From 30 September to 2 October 2026 the province of Huesca (Aragón) got a good soaking: 71% of its territory had 20 mm or more, and the median for the province was 23.8 mm. The MicoRadar model counts this rain as a triggering one, and its window falls on 17–30 October. Below: how much that is, where the dates come from and what to expect from them. 1

Is that a lot for Huesca?

Yes, especially after the previous two weeks: from 16 to 29 September the median for the province added up to just 6.5 mm. In three days at the start of October, far more fell. And the rain was not patchy but widespread, as you can see from the second column of the table. 1

Period Median rainfall for the province Share of territory with 20 mm or more
16.09–29.09.2026 6.5 mm —
30.09–02.10.2026 23.8 mm 71%

The median is the middle value: on half of the territory more rain fell, on the other half less. It was calculated from daily rainfall on a one-kilometre grid. This is a weather model analysis, refined with measurements from AEMET, Spain's state meteorological agency. So this is measured and calculated weather, not observations in the forest or mushroom pickers' finds. 1

Why is the window 17–30 October?

Because the MicoRadar model counts a rain as a trigger for days that come 15–30 days after it. For the rain of 30.09–02.10, that is exactly the second half of October. 1

The window is the dates when one of the conditions under which the model expects fruiting is met. It is a calculation from the weather, not a forecast of what you will find in the forest.

Does that mean there will be mushrooms?

No, rain on its own does not guarantee mushrooms. It is only one of the conditions in the calculation. Besides it, the model takes into account temperature, soil moisture, the species' season and the woodland. So both before the window starts and during it, the estimate for the province may change: the map is recalculated every morning. 1
